The Canvas Works Was Founded in 2007 by Patrick Ryan

I’m often asked how and why I set up The Canvas Works. After graduating with Honors from Trinity School of Law, I went into the advertising industry but by 2006 I’d had enough of the rat race and moved to the Ibizian countryside with my now wife, Lynne. We developed the business out there and moved back to Ireland in late 2007 where we settled in Kinsale, County Cork.

Although we’re small, we invest heavily in our website to deliver an on-line experience that matches or surpasses the big international players. Supporting an Irish online canvas printing business should never mean settling for less.   • Do you make unique Christmas gifts? What are the deadlines for Christmas?

    Yes. Christmas is one of our busiest times as everyone in Ireland searches for the perfect Christmas gift. Our advice is to order early for Christmas and avoid the rush. Talk to us about how we can help you print wonderful photo gifts this Christmas.

  • What is your Christmas deadline for ordering?

    Christmas deadlines vary every year but generally our last day for Christmas orders tends to be around December 12th. It's always best to order much earlier to avoid the inevitable delays in the postal system. We can't accept liability for delays and can never guarantee delivery by a particular date.

  • What are your opening hours over Christmas

    Generally we are closed over Christmas and New Year and get back to work around 3rd or 4th of January depending on how the days fall. We work flat out, 7 days a week through November and December so we take some family time over the Christmas period. If you're ordering online in this period, your order will ship during the first week of January when we re-open. Our gallery is also closed at this time.

  • My order did not arrive for Christmas

    We despatch every order that was placed before our deadline for Christmas which is usually around 12th December. However, we have no control over when your print will arrive and cannot accept any liability for a late delivery. Please try to order early to account for the enormous volumes that go through the postal system at this time of the year. We will provide tracking details and recommen you contact An Post for updates on your delivery.

  • What are your print sizes for canvas prints and framed prints?

    All of our sizes for the travel posters relate to the image area rather than the total size. This means that for framed prints or print only on either satin lustre or fine art paper, the total paper size will be bigger to allow for the border or mat.

    Canvas prints are different because there is no border or mat surrounding the image so the sizes there equate to the full size of the canvas.

    Image Size, Paper Size and Wall Size
    A 15x20cm image size comes printed on a 20x25cm print and has a total wall size of 24x29cm. (In imperial sizes, this equates to a typical 8x10" frame)

    A 20x30cm imagee sizes comes printed as a 30x40cm print and has a total wall size of 34x44cm. (In imerial sizes, this equates to a 12x16" frame)

    A 30x45cm image comes printed as a 40x55cm print and has a total wall size of 44x59cm. (In imperial sizes, this equates to a 16x24" frame)

    A 40x60cm image size comes printed as a 50x70cm print and has a total wall size of 54x70cm. (In imerrial sizes, this equates to a 20x28" frame)

  • What are your opening hours?

    Our opening hours vary depending on the season. In the summer, our gallery in Kinsale is open 7 days a week, usually from 9.30am to 5.30pm. During the winter, we have reduced opening hours and close on weekends and midweek on Wednesday. If you are intending to make a visit to our gallery, we advise you to call ahead to make sure we are open.

  • Do you offer discounts on canvas prints and framed prints?

    We offer a 10% discount on your first order when you join our mailing list. In addition, we send regular montly discounts to subscribers of our list for canvas prints, framed prints, wood photo blocks and our complete range of travel posters. These discounts are entirely exclusive to our mailing list and we don't publicise them on social media or on our website. Stay subscribed for these great discounts of up to 20% off.

  • Do you offer free delivery of canvas prints and framed prints in Ireland?

    Yes, all orders for delivery in Ireland get free delivery based on our standard despatch lead time which is 7-9 days.
    However, if you need your order urgently, you can select a faster or express lead time which can be paid for.

  • I'm looking for a personalised photo gift in Ireland - can you help?

    Yes. Printing photos online is a wonderful way to create thoughtful photo gifts for friends, family and colleagues. Our prints make fantastic house warming gifts, anniversary gifts, wedding gifts or of course original and different birthday gifts.
